Women's Day

Women's Day

International Women’s Day is here & we're here to celebrate everything from social, economic, cultural to political achievements of women. The day has been celebrated all over the world for over a century now. As a little girl, I was never aware of this day as no one in my family or community did anything for it. But as I was in my 20s, I remember my mum kept mentioning this day to me (as it happens to be a week after her birthday) so it kind of stuck & remember it now.

I'm nearly 32 & I know this is going to sound very odd, but I still feel very tomboyish as I don't really  do many womanly things such as paint my nails & get pedicures. I 'd rather smother myself in mud or get punched in the face while boxing. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not a complete tomboy, I like to dress up, wear make up & do my hair all pretty. Sometimes, I just don't have the energy to do  it. Juggling a full time job, trying to run a creative business on the side, travel, gym, social life & that's all before a boyfriend/husband & kids. I admire the females who are trying to juggle those & more.

This picture just sums it all up. Like my step dad used to say "good things come in small packages". Little girl with big dreams!

I know some lucky women have been given the day off but majority of us haven't. However, I feel like we should treat ourselves to feeling like goddesses, even if it's just for a few hours, on a Thursday night. Am I going to do it? Well . . . at 5:30pm I will be hitting an awesome resistance class at F45, lifting those weights like a woman should, then going home to cook myself some dinner & do some work. However, this is probably what i should be doing really . . . lighting an amazingly scented candle, while in my pyjamas, I don't have a bathtub so a bubble bath is out of the question. Putting on some soothing music, a hydrating face mask, perhaps having a glass of wine, a cup of tea or hot chocolate, a whole bar of chocolate & a nice book to read. I would love to turn my phone & laptop off & completely switch off & spend the night by myself reflecting on the year of my own achievements & goals & not being too harsh with myself.  Let's see how that goes!

Hydrating face mask from Innisfree, Diptique scented candle & "The Muse" by Jessie Burton which I already read & recommend & it totally fits in with the day we're celebrating.

Purple is the colour that symbolises women, also green & white. Well unfortunately, the colour theme for March is  B L U E  so I had a bit of a challenge for myself to find some awesome finds.

Bars of chocolate with blue packaging which I absolutely adored.

Happy International Women's Day to my Mum, sister in law (who gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl Lucy three days ago), cousins, aunties, grandmothers, friends, teachers & all the women, wherever you are in the world.
