Events + Shows + Battles
I can't believe it's the end of April already & May holiday is upon us. Last week has been an eventful state of affairs which I'm not going to delve into, but it has given me the time & head space to think creatively. So, my May is looking super busy already, starting off with a few events. The first one is an Art Battle, which is an international live painting event where a number of artists battle it out in two rounds of 20 minutes & the audience decides who the winner will be. Art Battle® has produced more than 1,200 public events, hundreds of private and charity events, and dozens of high profile murals since 2001 – across the US and Canada, and around the world. On the 5th of May, Cinco de Mayo, Art Battle will be coming to China for the first time & I was selected as one of the 12 artists to compete. I love painting but haven't been painting for a while so really looking forward to the challenge. I know exactly what kind of studies I will be working from & getting super excited about that. So if you are reading this & are in Shanghai, come along & support the artists & the local creative community. There will be music, food, drinks & a rooftop with a view!
The following weekend I will be at the Commune Market which I’ve been participating for over a year now. It’s one of many local markets where local crafters & designers sell their newest works & collections. I will be showcasing my usual screen prints & pillows & other products alongside a new side project that I’ve been working on lately called: UPCYCLED ART COLLAGES. Basically what it means is that I took some of my old screen prints, cut them up & collaged them into small pieces of art including some illustrations & paintings. I will share some of these collections below & they will be for sale at the market & online, or alternatively you can email me directly at email@example.com if you’d like to purchase any of these or commission any new work. I will be framing these & can’t wait to show them to the local & expat clientele & see what they think. & I’m quite positive this will be my last market that I will be attending in Shanghai before relocating. Again, if you’re in town, come say hello. I will only be there on Mother's Day, Sunday May 13th.
